The Teachers of
Russell Smith Russell has thirty-five years of experience with Buddhism. He studied directly with Nippo Syaku who brought the Way of Sudden Awakening or Ekayana from Japan to the United States. Since Russ' Awakening fifteen years ago, he has selflessly shared this Original Zen Teaching that leads to Complete Freedom in a manner that is harmonious and balanced with all of life.
Helga Schleiter Smith Helga Schleiter Smith was born in Germany and came to the United States in 1979. After years of studying and practicing various "dualistic" and "non-dualistic" traditions, she came upon the Way of Sudden Awakening. This ancient, yet contemporary approach to Enlightenment manifested for Helga just as it had for thousands of ordinary people before: she Awakened to the Buddha Nature which is empty of selfhood yet completely full and perfect. Helga received the Transmission and has been sharing this Way with others since 1998. Her intention in life, consistent with her Awakening to the Oneness of all beings, is to bring this Sudden Awakening to as many people as possible.
"All beings have inherently Buddha-nature which has no beginning or end, and is complete and perfect in its Suchness. Awakening to this understanding is possible for anyone who is willing to honestly and directly look into Awareness itself."
